What are the responsibilities and job description for the Executive Assistant position at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative?

Alaska Village Electric is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and organized Executive Assistant & Publicist to join our executive team. The Executive Assistant & Publicist will play a vital role in supporting our Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors while also managing our public relations efforts to engage with our Members.

As the Executive Assistant & Publicist you will be providing excellent clerical services, administrative support, and public communications for the President/CEO, the Board of Directors, and the membership of the Cooperative. For the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for board meetings, preparing resolutions and action items for board signatures. On the Publicist side, your responsibilities will include creating and publishing media content that promotes the staff, members and goals of the cooperative and writing monthly content for the Ruralite magazine. Other primary duties will include maintaining documents and maintaining relationships with state and federal agencies, city and tribal governments, trade associations and business partners of the cooperative.

The ideal Executive Assistant & Publicist should have:

  • Associates degree with 3 years progressive administrative support experience with additional training in technical and creative writing, certifications in communications, public relations, business communications, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
  • Ability to create and compile engaging content and company messaging.
  • Ability to read and understand bylaws, tariffs, and other technical documents, and be familiar with Robert's Rules of Order.

Rewards:

We offer a comprehensive pay and benefit package. Highlights include starting pay expected between $32.65 and $39.48 per hour. 401K Plan with Employer Match of 4% and Retirement Pension Plan (Defined Benefit, Employer paid pension). Paid leave (PTO) starting at 21 days per year and up to 6 weeks maximum. We also offer 8 paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays and a Birthday Holiday.

Work environment: Our office in Anchorage is located in midtown at 4831 Eagle Street with off-street parking and a beautiful view of the mountains.

Schedule flexibility: We offer flexibility in start/end time between 7am to 5pm. This is full time, in-person work. We offer flexibility for work-life balance including a 9/80 schedule (eligibility after 6 months).
