POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To assist research nurse with physical examinations and other procedures as necessary.
- To take patient’s height, weight, history and vital signs.
- To take blood pressure measurements.
- To take E.K.G and assist physician during administration of stress tests.
- To draw blood and to perform simple blood tests and urinalysis.
- To give injections and perform venipuncture under a nurse’s supervision.
- To assist in the preparation of medications by mixing various medications according to specifications of the nurse.
- To prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- To position instruments and equipment, and hand them to the nurse if requested.
- To assist the nurse in counseling or teaching patients about various aspects of health care.
- To handle medical inquiries, make appointments, register patients, and fill out medical forms or lab requests.
- To perform certain clerical duties when necessary such as typing, filing, or answering telephones.
- To maintain a log book of medications dispensed and special supplies used by the nurses.
- To maintain a controlled substance log book required by the Federal Narcotics Administration.
- To order all supplies and medications for the department.
- To deal with vendors as necessary to resolve problems related to ordering of supplies and equipment.
- To perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Graduate and completion of an approved course of study as a Medical Assistant pr phlebotomy and ECG technician certification.
- 2-3 years of experience is required.
- The ideal candidate will be able to communicate in a professional manner, be organized, an attentive listener and computer literate.
