POSITION: Quality Control Technician STATUS: Non-Exempt (hourly)
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None LOCATION: Winslow, ME
POSITION SUMMARY:
Inspects and documents materials, parts, and components, work in process, and finished trailers for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Updates daily quality metrics.
Routinely Inspects materials, in-process work, and finished trailers.
Perform tests to determine the proper functionality of electrical and mechanical components.
Compares product work orders against the finished product to ensure proper assembly and build.
Verifies specified product requirements relative to both functional and cosmetic standards.
Support the development of process standards.
Define and build process standards in collaboration with management engineering drawings and diagrams and confer with management or engineering staff.
Rejects incorrect, substandard materials and workmanship.
Operates diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
Utilizes quality system to upload reports.
Required to work overtime occasionally and inspect all completed trailers at shift end.
Follows safety policy
Performs related duties as needed by supervisor.
MEASUREMENTS:
Accuracy of inspection compared to the finished product to work order.
Input data accurately into the tablet and multiple document sources.
Ensure all trailers have completed inspection forms.
Thorough job shows a reduction of rework or history or minimal rework.
Thorough job shows a reduction of warranty claims or minimal warranty claims.
Involvement in developing standards.
Improvements to the quality process
KNOWLEDGE AND COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Two or more years of experience in trailer manufacturing or construction environment.
Required to perform general mathematical calculations, interpret graphs, speak to, and react to graph trends.
Ability to correctly read and interpret tape measure.
Ability to navigate and perform beginner functions in Microsoft Excel and create a Word document in Microsoft Word.
Above average interpersonal skills.
Above average time pressure of decision-making.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to walk and climb in, onto, and around trailer structures.
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
Must have the ability to be on your feet all day.
