Summary:
As a member of the leadership team within the Division of Student Affairs, the Director of Student Engagement provides the leadership, supervision, management and budgetary oversight of the activities, services and operations for the Office of Student Engagement. The office is comprised of Building management (Student Unions), Student Activities, New Student Orientation, Recreation, Greek Life, Special Events, Campus Media and Performing Arts. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a model for student engagement that fosters student growth and transformation.
Essential roles:
Managerial
- Provide leadership and supervision for the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) staff. The staff includes 4 full time professionals, 1 full time support staff, 3 contractual staff and approximately 75 student staff.
- Provide budget oversight for various State, IFR and Campus Activities Fee budgets totaling approximately $500,000.
- Research current trends and best practices for the delivery of student leadership, co-curricular and social activities, supporting the mission of the Student Leadership Center.
- Provide effective supervision both directly and indirectly to the student staff of the Office of Student Engagement who help to facilitate campus wide programmatic initiatives.
Student Union and Event Management
- Through OSE's Events Concierge, daily management of the Student Leadership Center (SLC) and Pioneer Student Center (PSC), including hiring, training, and staffing of both students and contract professionals
- Provide oversight and management of events on campus that can be both public and internal in nature, understanding and addressing all the risk associated with these types of events.
New Student Orientation
- Through OSE's Asst. Director of First Year Engagement, onboarding new students through academic and student service programs throughout orientation, welcome week and First Year Engagement programs.
Recreation
- Through OSE's Coordinator of Recreation, develop and manage a comprehensive Recreation, Intramurals, Rockwall and Club Sports program.
Performing Arts
- Provide indirect supervision (through our talented Performing Arts Directors) over all Performing Arts programming, including Drama, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music.
Campus Media / Bandwagon
- Guidance and integration in a state of the digital content studio, integrating the promotion of our campus events into the academic majors for which we offer.

Job Requirements:
Education:
Master's Degree Required in a relevant field: Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, Organizational Development, Human Resources or Social Work with emphasis on Student Personnel Administration, Human Services, or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5-7 years working in the field of Student Engagement, Student Success, New Student Orientation and onboarding or Student Union operations and management.
- Demonstrated experience working with the development of co-curricular resume building.
- Demonstrated experience in supervision
- Demonstrated experience in facilities management
- Experience in the hiring, training and management of high-risk events.
