Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for assisting lead teacher in facilitating educational activities and supporting the overall well-being of young children. You should have previous experience working with groups of children age ranging from (5 years of age - 12 years of age). If you are passionate about working with children, driven to make a difference every day, and eager for a challenging, fast-paced job with opportunities for advancement and career development, this is the perfect role for you.
Assistant Teacher Responsibilities
- Collaborate with lead teacher to plan and execute daily activities for school-aged children.
- Promote positive group dynamics for safe, fun and team-building activities.
- Actively participate in program activities while maintaining control of the group during activities.
- Supervise children during indoor/outdoor playtime, meal time, and educational activities.
- Attend all summer days for field trips; including staff training, staff meetings, and professional development.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.

- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- No college degree required.
- Current physical, and ability to pass BCI/FBI background check.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors and engage in physical activity with children.
- Seasonal requirements would include field trips and some supervision support while there.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to create a warm, nurturing and responsive environment for children and families.
- Must be dependable and maintain a good work record as to punctuality and daily attendance.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stand, and sit on the floor or on child-sized furniture for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move a child repetitively weighing up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work in a moderate to noisy work environment.
- Ability to assist children in an emergency situation.
- Able to meet the physical demands staying in proximity of children to be within arm's reach.
- Participate in safety drills by following the established guideline.
- Withstand outdoor temperatures and condition for extended periods of time during all seasons.
