Front Office Secretary Clerical Position Alleghany High School 10 Month Position with Full Time Benefits Position Open Until Filled
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and clerical tasks. Employee may perform a wide range of tasks in order to support the efforts as needed in the front office of the school. Should be willing to meet the needs of all students and staff as needed. Reports to a Principal.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL OR MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING
- Answer multiple phone lines (both internal and external)
- Attendance for all students
- Call teachers when they have not submitted their attendance and remind them to do it
- Mark students tardy when they come in each morning
- Mark students as early dismissal if they leave early
- Putting in student notes in Power School concerning attendance
- Creating door cards for all students and staff
- Operating the door card system and setting the cards up to print and then activate them
- Taking pictures of students and staff for the door cards
- Printing transcripts and filling out paperwork for the principal to sign for students to get their learners permit.
- Filing paperwork from Drivers Ed after a student has had behind the wheel
- Sending multiple emails daily in regards to student and staff information
- Helping the Athletic Director with gate duty assignments and our athletic program called Dragon Fly that houses all student information and data.
- Setting up bells for the bell system and making changes when testing or dismissing early
- Sending out calls to parents, students, and staff with announcements that they need to receive.
- County School Net Lead (Help teachers and students with SchoolNet issues)
- Writing down and making daily announcements
- NCVPS (responsible for enrolling students in the courses)
- Scheduling daily meetings on the school calendar
- Maintaining daily updates on the staff sheet that is shared through Google Drive
- Issuing parking passes for students and maintaining paperwork for being issued a pass
- Recording and reporting Firedrill times
- Assisting secure subs if there is a need in the mornings
- Other duties as instructed by the Principal
Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students; monitors student attitudes and encourages self-esteem; assists students with becoming increasingly independent.
Maintains standardized records and documentation concerning the progress of students.
Performs general housekeeping duties in maintaining an orderly office and work space/
Performs various clerical duties as instructed.

Participates in staff development workshops as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma required, associates degree preferred. Prior office experience is recommended.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for a Regular Work load.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of office machines, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via telephone.
