Job Responsibilities
- Assist Podiatrists in performing patient care, from measuring vital signs to educating patients and updating patient progress notes under the direction of the podiatrist.
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination by ensuring that they are stocked with all necessary equipment and supplies, and oversee the cleaning and restocking of exam rooms after closing.
- Ensure that all documentation related to a patient's assessment, laboratory and pathology tests, radiological studies, and other medical history are included in the patient's chart.
- Assist in the transcription of all clinical information related to a patient's visit into his or her medical record.
- Accompany patients in and out of the office, ensure that medical insurance information has been collected, and help schedule follow-up appointments (if needed).
Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Willingness to get certified as a Podiatric Medical Assistant through the American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants
Preferred
- One year of experience working as a Medical Assistant
- Working knowledge of infection control guidelines
- Advanced computer and data entry skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred

Experience:
- EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Preferred)
