This position is responsible for the overall management and administration of a claim unit (1-4 claim teams) and line of business. Duties include the overall technical and administrative oversight of a business unit of claim adjusters claim specialists or claim processors. This position will also oversee the claim team leader and claim supervisor responsible for one or more teams of claim adjusters, specialists or processors. Job Duties & Responsibilities • Ensures the accurate, thorough and timely adjudication of claims related to a line of business or unit. • Responsible for the overall process related to claim adjudication including tools and resources needed to ensure the accurate and thorough process of claim adjudication for their respective line of business. • Ensures the accuracy of underwriting and claim audits to a standard of 90% • Responsible for the training, development and mentoring of Claim Team Leaders, Claim Supervisors, Claim Adjusters, Specialists or Processors dependent upon the business unit. • Direct the selection, development, deployment and evaluation of assigned Claim team. o Identify, develop and retain high potential/high performing employees who have the potential for or are ready to fill critical roles in the organization. o Manage staff performance; implement strategies and plans to address staff development; identify and address training needs on an ongoing basis; provide frequent performance feedback. o Develop and implement strategies and plans to address Claim Professional and Unit Team Leader and Supervisor development. Make certain training needs are identified and addressed on an ongoing basis. o Provide enhanced technical leadership focus to strengthen the product/technical development of the staff. • Focus on resolution and process improvement, fulfilling all obligations while maximizing cost effectiveness, helping the business understand drivers, trends and product stress points and helping our clients attract and retain business. • Reviews complex claim files and make recommendations for further claim handling • Responsible for developing and implementing projects and processes that improve the overall function of the claim department in support of the key plan items for the company. • Ensures the timely, accurate and thorough training of new claim associates, specialists or processors. • Responsible for ensuring their unit and/or line of business meet licensing and regulatory requirements of the state. • Responsible for the administrative duties within their line of business or unit including data reports, performance metrics, performance evaluation, updated job descriptions, salary administration, employee discipline issues and other administrative and reporting functions as required. • May be responsible for the remote management of a team or unit. • Must be able to rely on experience to accomplish departmental, divisional and corporate goals. • Ability to implement policies and procedures under the direction of higher level management. • Assist Claims senior management as necessary. • Other duties as outlined Qualifications • College education preferred but not required • 3-5 years of claim supervisory experience preferred • 5-7 years of insurance experience required • Strong proven technical competency in the claim arena required • Previous claim management experience will be strongly considered • Ability to gain multiple state insurance adjusting licenses and meet continuing education requirements • AIC, SCLA, CPCU designations would be desired • Knowledge and understanding of marketing, underwriting and account management processes. • Current on jurisdictional laws and regulations. • Current P & C adjuster’s license preferred. Must have the ability to attend adjuster school and successfully obtain licenses in required states. • Strong technical claim skills and the ability to understand and execute claim handling process and procedures that meet regulatory compliance requirements and optimize effective and efficient claim operations. • Strong interpersonal and management skills with the ability to develop supervisory and associate level employees and establish a culture that delivers results to the organization. • Ability to focus on resolution and process improvement, fulfilling all obligations while maximizing cost effectiveness, helping the business understand drivers, trends and product stress points and helping our clients attract and retain business. • Ability to handle complex tasks with a strong sense of urgency. • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. • Developing skills in data management, expense management and understanding of budget development and management. • Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, business partners, customers, agents, regulatory agencies and others to achieve organizational goals and create better outcomes. • Represent the Company, ensuring strong business relations, issues and complaints resolution, and the acquisition and retention of profitable business. • Strong customer service focus both internally and externally. • Ability to effectively and professionally present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers. • Ability to provide support to other departments within the organization including; Retail Product, Product Development, Sales, Lender Servicing and Underwriting. • Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or issues; • Ability to provide action oriented solutions to address opportunity areas that will improve the overall business. • Ability to learn quickly and work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines, projects and requests with attention to detail. • Developing ability to analyze data and understand trending related to data, reports, and information. • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and listening skills essential. • Above average computer skills, including Microsoft Office products. • Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level. • Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction – prepare, provide and convey diversified information. • Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.). Moderate dexterity – regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
