Construction HSE Officer

6 month contract. Pay Rate: $45-49/hour

Responsibilities:

 Conduct daily environmental, health and safety audits

 Inspect and examine all health and safety related complaints, workplace accidents, spills

 Search for hazards on the job site

 Investigate the construction site to ascertain equipment, production, and material processes do not pose a safety or health hazard to employees, visitors, and other contractors

 Create, evaluate, and implement health and safety programs and strategies

 Work closely with client’s engineering and EHS departments

 Train contractors on issues of workplace safety and environmental protection

 Create different frameworks that will reduce accidents and improve workplace safety

 Verify the adequacy and safety of all work proposed tools and equipment

 Review and approve all subcontractors’ safety plans

 Train and run drills and exercise with workers on how to manage an emergency situation

 May also include occasional nights and weekends depending on the status of the project but it’s primarily days, M-F

Qualifications:

 Minimum of two years’ experience in construction safety

 Ability to communicate excellently in both oral and written format

 Profound knowledge of industry standards and regulations (OSHA)

 Good organizational and record-keeping abilities

 Ability to climb heights using ladders or scaffolding

 Good team player, self-confident, motivated, and independent individual

 OSHA 10 and 30-hour certification preferred

 College degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred
