What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Specialist position at Aloha Independent Living Hawaii?
We are now hiring on the island of Oahu for a part-time (25 hours/week) Independent Living Specialist. We are seeking a self-motivated, independent, “go-getter” with a heart for serving people with disabilities.
Primary responsibilities are providing: information & referral, peer counseling, independent living skills training, advocacy, and transition.
Minimum qualifications: BA in Human Services (will also consider two years of documented experience), strong oral and written communication skills, basic computer knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Must have knowledge of community resources and have own transportation to work with consumers in the community.
Desirable qualifications: Ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), and personal experience with disability.
