How you make a difference

The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a pivotal role in upholding departmental protocols, policies, and facility standards, ensuring strict compliance. Collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing, they oversee the daily operations, personnel, and activities within the department, exercising direct supervisory responsibility over a range of positions, including Nurse Leads, Registered Nurses, and both Licensed and Unlicensed Nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborates in the development and execution of Department of Nursing Standards of Care, aligning with the nursing philosophy and objectives.
• Ensures daily nursing and patient care requirements are met, adhering to staffing standards, policies, and procedures, with the support of Nursing Leads.
• Provides comprehensive staff training, oversees work assignments, and conducts performance evaluations, including onboarding and orienting new team members through in-service training.
• Consults with the Director of Nursing to address nursing program development challenges and formulate effective solutions.
• Evaluates the implementation of individualized Plan of Care by multi-disciplinary teams, assigning adequate nursing staff to meet client needs, while directing daily departmental operations, activities, and personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Registered nurse degree from an accredited school of nursing; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)

Experience

• A minimum of (5) five years of experience as a Registered Nurse that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position may be considered.

Licenses/Certifications

• Must possess a current, unrestricted California license as a Registered Nurse.
• One (1) to three (3) years of increasingly responsible nursing administration experience including some lead or supervisory experience.
