What are the responsibilities and job description for the Verification of Benefits Specialist position at ALS Integrated Services,LLC?
Here we GROW again. We are adding an VOB department and looking for VOB Specialists. You must have 2 years’ experience in a medical office where you were responsible for verifying benefits.
- Create patient accounts from scheduling appointment. Obtain demographic and insurance information as indicated in the Pre-Registration Minimum Data Set, Documentation Standards and Situation Response Guidelines to create, update and secure accounts. Screens and completes all required documentation and prioritizes all insurance coverage's as primary, secondary, tertiary. Completes required MSP questionnaires for all appropriate patients.
- Answer questions regarding patient's appointment or transfer to the appropriate scheduling department, service area, or office.
- Reviews benefits, cost and coverage with patients and assesses their potential financial liability, and answers applicable questions. Completes all documentation for processes for both outpatient and inpatient services.
- Effectively organizes prioritization of Daily Worklist task. Ensures Worklist coding is consistent with documentation. Secures all applicable accounts in timely manner as defined by Due Diligence Standard while maintaining department productivity and quality standards.
- Must maintain facility established productivity standards and Patient Accounts Quality Guidelines. Reports improvements, problems and changes as it relates to insurance verification to Department Management. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Job Requirements:
· High School Degree or GED
· 2 years’ Experience in fast paced medical office (Front Desk experience)
· Ability to operate multiple computer applications
· Analytical skills; able to problem solve
· Excellent verbal and written skills
- Answer phones (both external and internal); assure prompt, courteous service at all times
- Excellent communication, problem solving skills, and ability to deal with customers who are often adversarial.
- Ability to interact independently to resolve customer service issues.
· Typing speed of 35 wpm
· Medical terminology required
