Overview
The Emergency Management Professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining emergency preparedness plans and procedures for a hospital. This role involves coordinating with various departments and external agencies to ensure a timely and effective response to emergencies. Preferred knowledge of FEMA / NIMS incident command structures.

Responsibilities
Emergency Planning:

· Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, including evacuation procedures, resource allocation strategies, and communication protocols.

· Conduct hazard vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks and prioritize mitigation measures.

· Develop and implement emergency response training programs for hospital staff.

Incident Management:

· Coordinate the hospital's response to emergencies, such as natural disasters, active shooter situations, and public health crises.

· Activate emergency response teams and ensure the efficient distribution of resources.

· Maintain communication with external agencies, such as law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services.

Regulatory Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to emergency preparedness and response.

· Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address compliance gaps.

Risk Assessment:

· Continuously monitor emerging threats and trends that could impact the hospital's operations.

· Conduct risk assessments to evaluate the likelihood and potential consequences of various emergencies.

Emergency Exercise Planning and Execution:

· Develop and conduct emergency exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response plans.

· Analyze exercise results and identify areas for improvement.
- Proven experience in leadership roles, preferably in a public health or nonprofit setting
- Strong program management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate initiatives
- Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management
- Proficiency in grant writing and securing funding from diverse sources
- Familiarity with emergency management protocols and procedures
- Excellent public speaking abilities to engage with stakeholders effectively
- Experience in volunteer management is a plus

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public health, or a Registered Nurse with 5 years of experience, or a preferred first responder or other relevant experience. Preferred knowledge of FEMA / NIMS incident command structures.

· Certification in Emergency Management (CEM) or a similar credential preferred.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in high-stress situations.

· Experience in healthcare or emergency management preferred.

· NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 required within the first year of employment.

Additional Skills:

· Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures.

· Proficiency in emergency management software and tools.

· Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.96 - $25.00 per hour

Work Location: In person

Salary : $22 - $25
