SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for all Operations day to day activities / functions at the La Porte Complex.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understanding of and an adherence to the standard operating procedures.
- Perform minor maintenance including unit and equipment isolation.
- Effectively troubleshoot, and will have an eye towards safety, environmental, and operational improvements.
- Will be accountable for the safe, environmentally responsible, high quality, risk managed, and cost-effective operation of the systems in all responsible units.
- Will use Foxboro Distributive Control System for unit operations and will have knowledge of the electronic manufacturing/inventory system, Logbook, MOC system and other computer-based programs necessary to perform job.
- Will demonstrate an above average understanding of the chemistries performed in all responsible units.
- Have an understanding of and an adherence to La Porte’s PSM, EHS&S, and Quality Systems.
- Incumbents will be required to achieve and maintain qualifications as an E-Squad member. This includes Industrial Fire Brigade, HazMat Response, CPR, First Aid, and Incident Command structure.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum 3 - 5 years’ chemical plant experience (preferred but not required)
Process Technology Degree (preferred but not required)
Computer Skills
Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point and other Office Suite applications.
Chempax ERP (preferred but not required)
Good organizational skills, and communication skills.
Language/Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, reports and spreadsheets to present information to all levels of the organization. Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The employee is required to walk, sit, stand, twist, kneel/crouch/crawl, climb up/downstairs, climb up and down ladders. Employee must be able to wear all PPE protection up to/including Level A suit and bunker gear, full face respirator, and self-contained breathing apparatus.
Communicate by being able to accurately converse, convey, and express oneself as well as understand these communications from others. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
