Grower

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Grower to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a strong understanding of plant care and cultivation. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to ensure the successful growth and maintenance of various plants in our greenhouse and outdoor environments. The Grower will play a crucial role in enhancing our agricultural operations, contributing to the overall health and productivity of our crops.

Position Overview: Responsible for managing the end-to-end process of cultivating, maintaining, and nurturing various plant species. This role involves overseeing the health and growth of plants, including ensuring they receive proper care, water, nutrients, and pest control. The Grower will monitor plant health, implement corrective actions when necessary, and apply fertilizers or soil amendments to optimize growth.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Develop team members through training, ensuring sustainable success and a well-prepared workforce.
• Ensure full compliance with all laws, regulations, and requirements, and monitor employees for adherence.
• Oversee the planting, growing, and maintenance of various plants, ensuring they receive proper care, watering, and nutrients.
• Monitor plant health, checking for pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Set up and manage irrigation systems, ensuring plants receive adequate water and nutrients.
• Apply fertilizers and soil amendments as needed to promote healthy growth.
• Maintain accurate records of planting, and growth stages.
• Monitor for signs of pests or diseases and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
• Apply pesticides or other treatments in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.
• Maintain detailed records of plant growth, treatment applications, harvest dates, and environmental conditions.
• Prepare reports on plant growth progress, pest control actions, and other relevant metrics.
• Assist with year-end inventory procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Foster a culture of safety by promoting risk management and providing training to prevent accidents.
• Identify and implement improvements to growing protocols to drive quality.
• Ensure compliance with shipping schedules by effectively utilizing available resources.
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of relevant federal and state Department of Agriculture regulations, rules, and guidelines.
• Strong decision-making abilities, with the capacity to apply established precedents and use resourcefulness to solve new challenges.
• Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with sound judgment and discretion.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to take direction and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Competency in problem-solving, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a bias for action.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education 4 yr degree or equivalent experience in Horticulture.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
