JOB SUMMARY:

This is an amazing opportunity for an engineering leader to mentor, develop and efficiently run a Controls Engineering department at a strong company. The Controls Engineering Manager will supervise all phases of machine controls design and field service activities. They will ensure the controls design is functional and suits the purpose for which the machine was sold. They will plan for short term progress as well as long term goals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Review awarded jobs with sales department.

· Report application, scheduling and cost concerns to Director.

· Schedule internal and external resources to achieve scheduled time frame.

· Negotiate terms and quality with external sources.

· Daily review progress of internal and external resources.

· Review, resolve and investigate opportunities that arise pertaining to active jobs.

· Pursue new or revised technology that would result in cost savings to the company.

· Ensure manufacturing is provided with Bills of Material and prints required for total machine construction.

· Ensure manufacturing is provided with any software/programs required to construct and/or operate the required machine.

· Evaluate new and/or additional software.

· Conduct design releases with manufacturing. Relay the design intent for machine construction.

· Review and improve machine manuals.

· Resolve engineering problems encountered by manufacturing.

· Participate in and/or lead activities that promote continuous improvements and create a safe working environment.

· Conduct department personnel job performance reviews.

· Understand and enforce company procedural manual, employee manual and standards.

· Develop company standards, policies and procedures.

· Train personnel.

· Resolve personnel problems.

· Justify new positions required within the department.

· Interview and make hiring suggestions for potential employees.

· Approve and deny vacation requests.

· Conduct departmental hiring, discipline, motivation and termination.

· Responsible for department operating budgets.

· Communicate, as daily activities require, with other company managers.

· Management of network file structure and data storage practices for all department files.

· Participate in and/or lead activities that support Altron’s Total Quality Systems.

· Reporting requirements include departmental KPI’s, Controls bills of material, Controls schematics of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic, and Controls logic and interface software.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in engineering-related field (Electrical Engineering preferred)

· Experience in leadership and management of teams: 5 years

· Excellent supervisory skills

· Experience in controls design and engineering: 5 years

· Advanced controls aptitude

· Strong in ability to read controls schematics

· High Level of ability in machine building practices (wiring, plumbing, etc.).

· Must have knowledge of machine control practices.

· General knowledge of industry products and local distributors of products

· Computer literacy and use of Microsoft products

· Self-starter and self-motivated individual who understands the importance of being a team player to achieve organizational goal and exercises team effort to achieve success.

· Thrives in a fast paced and changing work environment.

· Thoughtful and respects peers, subordinates, supervisors and customers; able to work in multicultural environments.

· Handles pressure well with a positive attitude.

· Prioritizes and handles many tasks simultaneously and has demonstrated organizational skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
