Location: Dak Minn Blood Bank 3375 DEMERS AVE Grand Forks, ND 58201 Pay Range: $20.75 - $31.12 Summary: Schedule: 32 hours per week, Monday - Friday, Shifts range between 6:30am and 7:00pm, Occasional weekend blood drives. The Blood Bank Technician promotes the Dak Minn Blood Bank brand at blood drives and community events as well as performs donor recruitment, education, registration, screening, collection (whole blood and apheresis) and blood product manufacturing activities. The Blood Bank Technician maintains a working knowledge of donor eligibility and suitability requirements, performs quality assurance and instrument maintenance activities and performs multi-level record reviews. The technician performs additional duties to meet the needs of the work area. Essential Job Functions: Promotes the Dak Minn Blood Bank at blood drives and community events and performs donor recruitment activities to meet established recruitment goals. Maintains a working knowledge of donor suitability requirements to maximize the safety and adequacy of the blood supply. Performs donor education, registration, screening and donor call back process. Performs donor collection, monitors donors during the collection process to ensure well-being of the donor while minimizing the potential for adverse events, performs post-donation care activities and responds accordingly to relieve symptoms should an adverse event occur. Performs and documents all activities. Understands different eligibility requirements and restrictions pertaining to apheresis donors and performs apheresis collections. Understands the operating principles of the equipment and responds appropriately to alerts/ alarms during procedures. Performs and interprets quality assurance activities and equipment maintenance. Creates and maintains complete, accurate, and legible records. Performs multi-level record reviews and takes appropriate actions for records/units requiring follow-up. Utilizes available technologies to record and retrieve information and completes needed documentation. Manufactures, labels, and stores blood components. Recognizes procedural or technical problems, takes appropriate corrective action, documents all information, and notifies Supervisor as appropriate in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
