Altura is actively seeking an individual to serve as a critical partner for our project managers and operations teams, allowing us to scale our environmental impacts. The primary function of the Sr. Business Analyst is to ensure consistent and proper delivery of the financial aspects of Altura’s project delivery, ensuring that our engagements run smoothly, effectively, and profitably. This position offers a high degree of collaboration with almost all employees in the organization. Success will also be based upon building strong relationships with individuals throughout Altura and within our parent company’s operational departments.
The successful candidate for this role must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and be capable of managing a varied and detailed to-do list, encompassing financial analysis & reporting, project accounting methods, and technology systems responsibilities. The preferred location for this position is in Altura’s Irvine or Oakland, CA offices; however, other remote locations will be considered.

Scope & Responsibilities
Financial Stewardship:
- Prepare for and conduct regular (typically monthly) check-in meetings with
- Project Managers to plan revenue and invoices.
- Develop and distribute customized reports and dashboards for Project Managers and company leadership to support revenue forecasting, project planning, team member utilization, accounts receivable, and more.
- Identify and implement process improvements for project financial management and reporting, including margin analysis. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for flagging projects which are over budget and working with project managers to resolve.
- Interface with internal accounting staff to support any company wide tracking of project financials.
- Professional Service Automation (PSA) Administration: Serving as a co-owner of Altura’s PSA platform and optimizing the system architecture to align with evolving business needs. This involves setting up projects, managing assignments, assisting with invoicing, timesheet and period management, and following up on aging AR.
- PSA Champion: Leadership throughout the organization to improve the use, understanding, and efficiency of managing projects, invoicing, and time tracking within our PSA software. Includes regular training for new employees and periodic team-wide best practices training.
- Partner with leadership to analyze project and company-level financial performance to improve profitability and forecasting.
- Prepare invoices and supporting documentation in partnership with project managers and project coordinators, including maintaining invoice requirements for various clients.
- Leading cross-collaboration with project coordinators to align operational workflows and optimize best practices.
- Engage with and optimize Accounts Payable process (Coupa software).
- 3-5 years of professional experience working in a finance, accounting, or operations role
- Experience generating financial reporting and analysis in an AEC or similar professional services company
- Strong familiarity with Salesforce is required
- Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in business, finance, or operations management
- Exemplary attention-to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong professional communication skills for interfacing with internal and external clients
- Effective working in a collaborative team environment
- Ambitious, positive, self-starting, problem solving
- Experience with Kantata (formerly known as Mavenlink/Kimble) - a cloud-based Professional Services Automation (PSA) software platform built within the Salesforce environment
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI/Tableau
- Experience in B2B software-as-a-service business models
