In this position, the Criteria Analyst I, Credit Rating Criteria is a member of the Credit Rating Criteria, Research and Analytics Group, and is responsible for the application, maintenance, development and review of Best’s Rating Methodology (BRM) and the related criteria procedures within rating analytics. The BRM is AM Best’s analytical framework and provides a comprehensive explanation of Best’s rating process and the credit rating criteria employed by AM Best Company in determining Best’s Credit Ratings.The Criteria Analyst I will be charged with assisting in the writing, testing and reviewing of existing and new criteria procedures for insurance-related ratings. The position will also include assisting in responding to requests from regulatory bodies and it will require significant interaction with internal constituents. Looking for a highly organized, analytical thinker who has a desire to increase their insurance industry knowledge by working towards industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for documentation in the Methodology Review process for existing criteria and assist in editing/development of criteria procedures.• Participate in dialogue with internal constituents regarding inquiries about criteria.• Assist in preparing for quarterly Methodology Advisory Committee (MAC) meetings (CRPC quarterly reports, slides).• Oversee and maintain the Criteria Review Workflow Report, which includes interfacing with lead criteria members and the Centralized Release Function (CRF) group to ensure that key data is captured in the report on a timely basis.• Monitor the Quarterly Criteria Deviation Report to ensure that when a deviation occurs, the necessary steps are taken to satisfy the validity of the deviation.• Conduct thorough documentation of the review process for external comments on Criteria.• Ensure that consistency in presentation and content are met.• Coordinate and participate in meetings with Rating Division representatives and provide backup for the meetings.• Assume lead role for the Multilevel Movement Review (MMR) process and administration.• Act as CRF liaison.• Handle all ad-hoc requests and develop procedures as needed.• Provide support functions for regulatory and compliance fulfillment.• Automate and improve group processes.• Improve documentation and filing processes (electronic and hard copy).• Assist in the development of training materials.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years' experience in insurance, finance or rating agency background preferred.• Bachelor's degree required.• Additional certifications (e.g. ARM, CPCU etc.) preferred.

Skills

• Strong business and technical writing/editing, communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to coordinate between internal groups is key. • Proficient in the use of Adobe; Microsoft Office, specifically Excel-intermediate level; PowerPoint and Word • Knowledge base of the insurance industry/financial markets. • Ability to explain complex tasks and processes in a cogent manner. • Strong time management and planning abilities. • Highly organized with attention to detail. • Ability to multi-task and be a team player. • Motivated to learn new skills and enhance knowledge of the insurance industry. • Language skills (Spanish) highly regarded but not required.
