Amazon is looking for a talented and self-motivated Environmental Incident Program Manager to support AWS globally. The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team, an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance and highest-level environmental performance of AWS's data center global operations. The Environmental team has responsibility for managing Environmental requirements and risk from site selection through to decommissioning. This role requires a highly skilled professional to manage complex, ambiguous incident program initiatives across organizational boundaries.

The ideal candidate must be able to lead regional/global incident investigations, influence stakeholders, and work independently while seeking guidance when needed. Strong strategic and tactical skills are essential, including balancing short and long-term needs, mitigating risks, and delivering simplified solutions. Excellent communication skills are crucial, with the ability to present to senior leadership and write strategic narratives. The role involves mentoring, recruitment, and process improvement. Cross-functional collaboration and consensus-building are key. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is vital, focusing on challenging the status quo and creating inclusive products. Key job responsibilities
Leadership and commitment. Ensure the Incident program evolves to meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges, and securing necessary resources and support for continuous improvement. Collaborate with wider environmental team, operations leaders and top management to perform reviews and updates needed to ensure the incident program remains relevant and effective.

Risk management and planning. Support the ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks identified in the incident program across AWS global operations. Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant environmental risks and opportunities, setting ambitious yet achievable improvements.

Implementation and operation. Oversee the design and deployment of our Incident program to enhance environmental performance to ensure lessons learned and continuous improvement. Lead associated environmental incident training and awareness programs to embed incident management skills throughout the organization.

Performance evaluation. Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting performance of the Incident program. Conduct regular analysis of incident data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement. Present performance reports and recommendations to top management.

Continual improvement. Drive the ongoing enhancement of the Incident program leading incident reviews, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and identifying innovative approaches to improve environmental performance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study

7 years’ experience serving as an environmental professional with solid regional or global environmental management systems (ISO 14001 EMS) and environmental incident management experience.

Experience in environmental program development, environmental compliance, environmental risk, environmental auditing and environmental permitting/reporting.

Ability to implement environmental performance enhancing initiatives and programs across functional teams, building processes that scale globally in a fast paced, growing organization.

Strong environmental project management skills working with globally displaced teams across different business areas and levels within a growing business environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in science, engineering or a related field

Experience in regional and/or global EMS, incident and compliance management in cloud-based infrastructure companies preferred

10 years in multinational company EMS and environmental program development, deployment, implementation and verification.

10 years in developing and maintaining multisite environmental programs.

Excellent communication skills, strong relationship builder, solid influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to coach at multiple levels.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
