POSITION OBJECTIVE:


Operates the shearer, notcher, punch press, roller, and spot welder to fabricate filter boards and other metal attachments for filters. Prepares and distributes filter orders for the next production area


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Operates the shearer, notcher, punch press, and roller to fabricate parts to be attached to filters.
  • Performs quality control on filter boards by checking fabricated boards against specifications.
  • Reads flat patterns to know which parts need to be made and attached to each filter.
  • Spot welds carbon cells.
  • Collects fabricated metal parts for filters and delivers them to the next production stage.
  • Uses a stretch wrap machine to prepare orders for delivery to filter production.
  • Operates a forklift to transfer metal parts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Inspects each fabricated part against specifications before sending the part to the next production phase


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


  • Requires experience or education to equal a minimum of 1 to 2 years experience in metal fabrication

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred


LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:


  • License or certificates in any of the above mentioned trade skills are beneficial


SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Requires the ability to read and follow flat patterns.
  • Measurement skill is required to 1/32 inch.
  • Has the knowledge to be able to identify different types of metal.
  • Requires the ability to work with precision instruments.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in the metal shop with exposure to noise, dust, and metal shavings
  • Must be able to withstand both cold and hot conditions, depending on location and weather.
  • Safety glasses are required at all times to protect against dust and particles.
  • Protective clothing must be worn at all times to protect against injury which may include cut resistant gloves, sleeves, aprons and gowns.
  • Closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Sleeveless shirts are prohibited in the warehouse and production areas.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Stands almost all day to perform the job duties.
  • Bends and reaches to place metal pieces onto pallets.
  • Maintains a steady work speed to meet order demands.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the facility to obtain information needed to perform job functions.
