American Asphalt Paving Co., a family-owned materials and construction company located in Shavertown, PA, is seeking an experienced CRUSHINGPLANT OPERATOR.
Job Description Summary:
The primary responsibility of the position is to operate the Primary and Secondary Processing Plants safely and efficiently. When not performing Plant Operator duties, or when the plant is not in operation, the successful candidate will assist the plant groundman in plant maintenance, repairs, welding, and laboring duties, plus any other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Required Tasks:
- Complete daily inspections and equipment pre-shift reports.
- Complete daily production and downtime and other reports as needed.
- Observe material flowing through the processing plant.
· Be observant of unusual noises, which will indicate there is a problem with the plant or equipment. Report Equipment problems and identify them to management.
· Performing preventative maintenance on equipment (greasing, filling lubes, etc.) and assist plant maintenance personnel with repairs to the processing plant as needed.
- Help maintain processing plant and mobile equipment
- Keep plant operator’s booth clean
- Perform basic maintenance: Greasing, skirt rubbers, etc.
- Perform basic labor tasks, such as lifting, shoveling, and climbing
- Maintaining the ground around the plant and shop, keeping it clean and organized
- Operate other mobile equipment as needed; included but not limited to skidsteer, manlift, water truck, haul truck, loader, etc.
- Utilize equipment in a manner to maximize productivity and minimize wear and down time
- Capable of working outdoors, year-round, in all types of weather.
- Seeking a self-starter who is dependable, reliable, demonstrates initiative, and can work without close supervision.
- The successful candidate will be a team-player, thrive working in a team environment, and willing to pitch-in and help wherever necessary. Must have a positive attitude.
- Must have a strong commitment to safety.
- Heavy lifting required. Ability to lift 75 pounds.
· Willing to work up to 10-12 hours/day; 6 days/week as needed
- Employment is contingent upon a clean background and drug screen. Applicant must agree to be placed in an employee random drug testing pool thereafter.
· Any other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills
· Solid stick-arc welding required, and cutting torch a plus.
· Prefer candidate with 1-3 years’ experience operating a crushing plant.

· Must be punctual, reliable and have reliable transportation
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
· Ability to meet physical requirements of the job as listed below.
Work Environment:
· Exposure to fumes and airborne particles
· Exposure to machine vibrations
· Exposure to moving machine parts and pinch points
· Exposed to loud noise
· Exposure to high voltage electrical wires, boxes and controls
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, stooping, crouching, crawling, rotating neck, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, feeling with hands and fingers, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, talking, hearing, listening, seeing (Distance, Peripheral and Depth Perception), work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
Education and Certification Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Valid U.S. Driver’s License
