Production Lab Technician/Chemist

American Assay Laboratories (AAL) is an independent, full-service, geochemical analytical testing laboratory. Being located in Sparks Nevada where 80% of the US gold production occurs has allowed us to become one of the most experienced gold, silver and precious metals assay labs in the world and one of the largest labs in the western US. We are a full-service lab capable of providing all the standard lab services, as well as many added capabilities. Our Sparks, Nevada, operation can provide in-house analytical services using Fire Assay, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, X-Ray Fluorescence, X-Ray Diffraction, CHS, IC, and our Scanning Electron Microscope.

We are currently hiring for a Production Lab Technician/Chemist, one day shift and one swing shift. We are seeking enthusiastic, new team members to join our company with the following qualifications:

Basic Summary: Perform basic laboratory procedures in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including sample digestion, Fire Assay digestion, Cyanide Analysis and Gravimetric Analysis. In doing so, you will generate and record data with minimal supervision and to the highest level of accuracy possible.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Ability to use a micropipette and volumetric pipette
• Basic sample digestion
• Use a microbalance effectively
• Follow expected deadlines
• Make acid solutions required with the correct dilutions
• Instrument operation including: ICP-OES, ICP-MS
• Maintain clean work areas
• Perform all other related duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S) Preferred

The ideal candidate would have:

• Proficient in basic technical and laboratory skills
• Zero to two years related experience in chemistry, biology or similar environment. Willing to train the right candidate
• Ability to read and follow basic protocol/ procedure manuals
• Must be able to perform effectively as a team member, communicate effectively, and interact in a professional manner with management and coworkers
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to multi- task is crucial in the success of applicant
