Job Summary:

The Information Technology (IT) Analytics Intern supports the development and integration of monitoring and alerting systems across infrastructure, network, endpoint, cloud services, and application environments at American Battery Solutions (“ABS”). This role assists in standardizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reducing alert noise, improving operational visibility, and automating reporting and notifications. The IT Analytics Intern contributes to a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that includes dashboards, scheduled reports, and notification pipelines aligned with Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Service Level Objective (SLO) requirements.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Connect at least two monitoring systems end-to-end (ingestion > dashboard > report > notification).
  • Deliver a KPI set with definitions and formulas, including availability, Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA)/Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR), alert volume, incident recurrence, and SLA/SLO proxy metrics.
  • Reduce duplicate or low-value alert noise in the pilot set (target: ≥20% reduction through rules or Artificial Intelligence (AI) classification).
  • Produce a working MVP with a dashboard view, scheduled report output, and a critical notification pipeline for a pilot channel or team.
  • Work with multiple monitoring and alerting tools across infrastructure, network, endpoints, cloud, and application environments.
  • Assist in addressing fragmented visibility, overlapping alerts, inconsistent reporting, and slow trend or SLA risk identification.
  • Report progress regularly and follow provided training, expectations, and checkpoints throughout the project.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.


Position Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate/graduate student working towards a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Information Science, or other relevant degree. 
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA required to enter the program.
  • Must be actively enrolled in school.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. 
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen. 
  • May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead. 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain. 
  • Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
  • May be required to recognize small numbers, letters, symbols, and colors.
