Job SUMMARY
The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying paint and other types of coatings on manufactured goods and structures by using rollers, brushes, and sprayers. This job is a multi-skilled position and requires a keen eye for detail and physical dexterity. Must be forklift certified or be able to obtain certification through our program. Must possess the ability to operate overhead cranes. Must be able to perform tasks accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining all Company safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for this position. These duties may not include all the work that may be assigned.
- Perform sight quality inspection and report missing or bad welds for correction prior to painting items.
- Mix and thin paint or other coatings to specified color and consistency according to customer requests.
- Set up and operate equipment to paint or coat products.
- Monitor paint operations to identify flaws and correct the causes.
- Regulate controls on equipment and paint booth to cure and dry paint or other coatings.
- Operate lifting and moving devises to move materials and equipment to access areas to be painted.
- Rack work pieces on skids, inspect, mark, and transfer finished products to staging / shipping areas.
- Responsible for cleanliness of paint booth, paint guns, spraying equipment and replacement of screens and filters.
- Maintain records of paint issued and inventory of supplies on hand.
- Perform dry mills check on coated parts and record.
- Accurately keep time and material usage per job, placing it in designated area at the end of each work shift.
- Assists other personnel as may be required to aid them in the completion of their work activities & duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.
- Acute attention to detail and ability to exercise good judgement.
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Minimum 3 years/experience in an industrial production painting environment a plus (please note experience with residential, carpentry, and commercial building painting is not transferable).
- Ability to interpret drawings.
- Ability to lift / move up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Prioritize and plan work activities efficiently to meet deadlines; work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to deal with change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple departments and diverse personalities.
- Reliable and safety conscious at all times.
