This is a Hybrid position and one MUST RESIDE within one of these geographical areas ONLY of either New Albany, OH, or Tulsa, OK, or Roanoke, VA (no other areas will be considered and NO relocation is offered).
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Each of the positions in the Civil Engineer job family is responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.
- Perform calculations for new and revised standard steel structures and foundations.
- Prepare structural standards specification and design guideline documents.
- Provide QA/QC on structure and foundation drawing creation.
- Provide structural engineering support for substation capital projects.
- Develop design alternatives and cost estimates for proposed standards.
- Work with electrical, civil/site, geotechnical, construction personnel, external vendors and others as needed for successful completion of duties.
- Supervise and review work of outside consultants as needed.
- Provide leadership and training of personnel as the subject matter expert in assigned area(s), or as otherwise requested.
- Participate in the development of plans establishing measurable goals, objectives, and requirements relative to specific area of responsibility.
- Working knowledge of current industry standards such as ASCE, ACI, AISC, AWS, and NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) is desired
- Works with STAAD.Pro, Excel, and other tools as needed.

This is an entry level position for new graduates with a Bachelor's degree in CIVIL engineering with a STRUCTURAL emphasis preferred in a program accredited by ABET*; Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
