Position Summary:
Assist in the implementation of shoreline management plans and other management plans for the system hydroelectric facilities. Interact with the public and their representatives to ensure compliance with all regulation and requirements of the licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Perform administrative duties as needed.
- Provide day-to-day interaction with property owners, realtors, developers, surveyors, engineers, contractors and other members of the community to assure compliance with management plans and license requirements.
Detailed evaluation and interpretation of plan view/elevation drawings and other data submitted with permit applications and comparisons with GIS data and the Shoreline Management Plan for the Smith Mountain Pumped Storage Project (SMP) to ensure compliance. Identify options necessary to bring new proposals or structures not in compliance with SMP into compliance.
File review and database entry to assess company permit information. Evaluation of information utilizing available resources to assess compliance.
Field work as instructed or required to provide support to review applications or requests for information. Attention to detail, strong observation skills, and the ability to work independently when in the field and the ability to convey technical information verbally and in writing accurately are essential. Ability to manage Geographic Information Systems beneficial. Experience in permitting, site plan review, and working with the public beneficial.
Document review and written correspondence representing the company’s position. Identify, clarify, resolve and initiate solutions to complex problems encountered.
Assist in ensuring compliance with license requirements by working with various personnel within Hydro Operations as required.
As instructed or required, assist with regulatory reporting to environmental agencies including the FERC; ensure that regulatory notifications are made as needed to regulatory agencies and are timely filed; assist in the implementation of the shoreline management plans and other management plans for the system hydroelectric facilities including the development of annual reports for various management plans; assist in the development of applications for permits and new licenses for the system hydroelectric facilities.
Participate as directed in community and civic base organizations along with technical committees involved with the shoreline management plans and other management plans for the system hydroelectric facilities.

Minimum Requirements
Education requirements are listed below:
- Bachelors Degree in a related field OR equivalent education and experience.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
One to two years of experience in maintenance and operation of industrial equipment;OR within an environmental regulatory field required. Performance test experience preferred
