Job Title: Wash Plant Operator

Location: Bonanza Operations Shift: Swing Shift | 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM Classification: Full-Time | Hourly

Position Summary

The Wash Plant Operator at American Gilsonite Company's Bonanza Operations is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining wash plant and material processing equipment to ensure efficient material separation and safe production operations. This role requires mechanical aptitude, experience with heavy equipment, and a strong commitment to safety, including compliance with MSHA regulations and the Company's Behavior-Based Safety program.

Schedule

This position is typically scheduled for four (4) twelve-hour shifts, generally Monday through Thursday, during swing shift hours of 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM. Overtime, weekend work, or schedule adjustments may be required based on operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate wash plant and material processing equipment for the purpose of material separation and production efficiency
• Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to:
  • Front-end loader
  • Backhoe
  • Excavator
• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on plant equipment, including:
  • Centrifuges
  • Pumps
  • Conveyors
  • Shaker tables
• Identify mechanical issues and communicate repair needs to maintenance personnel or supervision
• Safely work at heights when required, using appropriate fall protection and safety equipment
• Follow all MSHA regulations, site-specific safety rules, and company policies
• Actively participate in American Gilsonite Company's Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to support safe and efficient operations
• Accurately complete required production, maintenance, and safety documentation
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production goals
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience operating heavy equipment (front-end loader, backhoe, excavator)
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic equipment maintenance
• Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to safely work at heights
• Willingness and ability to work swing shift, including overtime and weekends as required
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance with MSHA guidelines
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous wash plant, mining, or aggregate processing experience
• MSHA certification or prior MSHA site experience
• Experience with centrifuges, conveyors, pumps, and shaker tables
• Welding, electrical, or additional mechanical skills
• Experience participating in behavior-based safety programs

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to work at heights and in elevated work areas
• Manual dexterity required for equipment operation and maintenance tasks

Work Environment

• Industrial mining and processing environment
• Exposure to moving machinery, dust, noise, and outdoor weather conditions
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
