About the Role:


As a Metallurgist, you will play a critical role in advancing the understanding and application of metal materials within various industrial contexts. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing the properties, performance, and failure mechanisms of metals to ensure the reliability and safety of components and systems. You will lead efforts in materials testing, failure analysis, and process optimization to support product development and quality assurance. Collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, you will provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to complex metallurgical challenges. Ultimately, your work will contribute to enhancing material performance, extending product life cycles, and driving technological advancements in the field of metallurgy.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Proven experience in materials testing, failure analysis, and mechanical testing of metals.

  • Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles, including fatigue, spectroscopy, and calibration techniques.

  • Familiarity with machining processes and their impact on material properties.

  • Ability to interpret technical data and prepare detailed analytical reports.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree or higher in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation and software for materials characterization.

  • Professional certification in metallurgy or materials engineering.

  • Experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace, automotive, or energy sectors.

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-disciplinary technical teams.


Responsibilities:



  • Conduct detailed metallurgical analyses including microstructural examination and mechanical testing to evaluate material properties and performance.

  • Perform failure investigations using techniques such as spectroscopy, fatigue testing, and mechanical tests to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.

  • Develop and implement calibration protocols for testing equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support material selection, process improvements, and product development initiatives.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Physical Demands:



  • Ability to work overtime as required

  • Occasional overnight business travel

  • Maneuver around a shop floor

  • Climb stairs

  • Ability to read fine print on label
