Job Overview
Join a dynamic team installing and maintaining cutting-edge public safety technologies! As a Surveillance and Access Control Technician’s Helper, you will support experienced technicians in the hands-on wiring, installation, programming, integration, and commissioning of surveillance systems, Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR), and access control technology solutions. Projects span commercial, industrial, governmental, institutional, and roadside environments.
This entry-level/helper position requires working at heights utilizing ladders, lifting equipment, and bucket trucks, offering real-world field experience and a clear pathway to advance into a full Technician or Apprenticeship role.
Responsibilities
- Assist with pulling, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling
- Help install cameras, proximity readers, door and gate access controllers, and related hardware
- Support system programming, integration, testing, and startup/commissioning
- Follow safety protocols and best practices on every job site
- Learn from seasoned technicians while contributing to project success
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of a high school diploma.
- Clean driving record (valid driver’s license required)
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
- Solid working knowledge of basic hand tools, power tools, and general safe work practices
- Strong willingness to learn, take direction, and grow into a Technician Apprenticeship
Preferred/Valued Experience (not required—applicants with any of these will stand out):
- IP networking basics
- Low-voltage cabling and termination
- Prior installation work with surveillance cameras, ALPR systems, or access control hardware
