- Lead and manage day-to-day accounting operations related to accounts payable, expense management, and agent commission processes
- Supervise and mentor the accounts payable team, ensuring invoices are processed appropriately and on time
- Review, analyze, and coordinate agent commission calculations and payments
- Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Review and approve manual journal entries to the general ledger
- Ensure internal controls are followed and appropriate documentation is maintained
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Agency Management, Billing Operations, Claims Operations) to streamline workflows and improve internal controls
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
- Provide assistance and backup support to other areas in finance and accounting
- Identify opportunities and actively participate in company initiatives to enhance systems, automation, and internal processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
- 3 years of accounting experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities (insurance industry experience a plus)
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable procedures
- Excellent analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines
- Strong communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Preferred:
- Experience in the insurance industry, particularly homeowners or property & casualty insurance
- Familiarity with FIS Enterprise Accounting System (EAS)
- Familiarity with SAP Concur
- Familiarity with Blackline
