Sr. Heat Transfer Design Engineer/Rater
Position Summary:
· Responsible for designing, analyzing, rating and optimizing the hydraulic and thermal design of ASME/TEMA (Tubular Exchange Manufacturing Association) shell & tube heat exchangers.
· Knowledge of Process Industry Operations with emphasis in Gas Processing and Refining operations.
Responsibilities:
· Applicant should be capable of taking a new inquiry and prepare a Thermal Design and Rating of a shell & tube heat exchanger.
· Applicant shall be proficient enough to take information from Process Data Sheet or extract information from a process simulation output, for input to the heat exchanger design.
· Able to assist Proposal Manager preparing quotes and mechanical staff with the design of exchangers, for fabrication.
Technical Skills:
· Proficient with HTRI (Heat Transfer Research Institute) or similar heat exchanger design software and calculations required for exchanger design.
· Working knowledge of the Heat Exchanger Industry and shop manufacturing.
· Experience with metal fabrication and testing procedures of tubular, forged and welded refinery & chemical production equipment such as liquid penetrant examination, post weld heat treatment or hardness testing.
· ASME, TEMA, ASTM, API-660, PIP, & other standards relating to the industry.
· Experience with PV Elite (Structural Design Program) and RCS (Mechanical Design Software) a plus.
· Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
· Familiarity with different material grades & the properties inherent with the assorted materials to be used in machining and welding.
· Good mathematical skills for verification of equipment integrity.

· Applicant should be capable of organizing and managing multiple projects, setting priorities, analyzing and optimizing use of time in order to achieve desired results.
Experience & Education:
· Preference for a B.S. Degree (or higher) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or Certification from a college or technical institution, and/or equivalent experience at the discretion of management.
· 10 Yrs of heat exchanger design
· Plant operations experience is desired.

Pay rate
· Dependent on education and relevant work experience – anticipated range of $100K – $190K.
· Annual Bonus - tied to Company performance.
Salary : $100,000 - $190,000
