1st Shift Production Operator

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450 employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 1st Shift Production Operator role in our Jamestown, CA facility.

JOB SUMMARY

This is a temporary, full-time role ideal for individuals seeking short-term employment. The Production Operator will assist in manufacturing and shipping operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency on the 1st Shift.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCTION

• Operate baler in a safe and efficient manner producing packaged materials for our customers
• Confer with shift supervisor and follows through with assigned work duties
• Assist in cleaning up work area

SHIPPING

• Operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner while loading trucks with packaged material
• May also be required to load AWF and customer trailers
• May be asked to complete paperwork for shipping
• Perform inspection of product and rework damaged or non-conforming product as needed

QUALITY

• Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, truck drivers, office personnel, and customers
• Assist in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed

SAFETY

• Attend monthly safety meetings
• Wear required PPE
• Attend safety trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Physical capability to bend, squat, or stoop
• Previous mobile equipment, forklift, required

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. regularly
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds
• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• Ability to work in extreme weather
• Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly
• Candidate MUST be able to work in a smoke-free environment

EXPERIENCE

Machine Operating: 1 Year (Preferred)

COMPENSATION

Range: $19.00-20.00 per hour

SCHEDULE

• 8-hour shift
• Day Shift
• Overtime-eligible
• Weekend availability
