What are the responsibilities and job description for the 25-26 Institute for Systems Biology STEM Coordinator position at AmeriCorps?
This is AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is an internationally renowned non-profit research institute. We are dedicated to the study and application of systems biology. We aim to better understand complex biological systems. Our work leads to breakthroughs across disciplines. An important part of our work is improving STEM education access. We work with every aspect of the education system to engage in an increasingly STEM-centric society. The member will join our Systems Thinkers in STEM program. This program offers high school students the chance to engage in rigorous, project-based learning around STEM systems. Fifty of this year's students will work on projects that focus on the environment. The member will guide these students as they create, implement, and showcase their community action project. We will conduct rolling review of applications and interviews until position is filled. Monthly stipend amount: $2,438.
Member Duties : The Systems Thinkers in STEM Coordinator will help ISB achieve our vision of wellness for humans and the planet by supporting students as they cultivate interdisciplinary skills for solving complex problems. They will guide high school students as they develop & implement environmental stewardship projects in their schools & communities; collaborate with STEM educators & scientists; organize cohorts of students; plan project showcases; create communications content for a variety of platforms and audiences.
