The Position

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Developer (NGTS)-Junior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $82,500.00 - $105,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background

The Modeling & Simulation Enterprise Applications (MSEA) product suite supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed. The Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis and research and development.

A typical day as a Software Developer (NGTS)-Junior may include:

  • Develops software for an advanced synthetic training environment
  • Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training against potential threats
  • Supports software development/integration, customer training and demonstrations
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of standard programming algorithms, design patterns and object-oriented software design
  • Evaluates/Reviews C language code
  • Programs using C , Python 3 and HTML
  • Develops parallel processes, threading and process communication
  • Develops web-based applications using development technology
  • Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements

Must-haves

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering: Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Computer, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering may qualify
  • Experience with scripting, database and programming in C
  • Experience with implementing graph theory
  • Familiarity with time-series analysis
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-AMEWAS willing to obtain and process full clearance

Desired Skills

  • Experience with scripting, database and programming in Python 3 and HTML
  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts

Physical Environment And Working Conditions

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.

The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
