Amherst County, Virginia is looking for an Assistant Zoning Administrator/Planner. This professional position performs highly technical work coordinating zoning and code inspection services, and reviewing plats and applications for compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Amherst County is a beautiful rural county, centrally located between the cities of Charlottesville and Lynchburg, Virginia. The county is beginning to experience significant growth and this position offers the opportunity to contribute to the vision and direction of the County.
The competitive candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with coursework in planning or a related field. At least one to two years of experience in planning and code enforcement or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Thorough knowledge of municipal ordinances governing zoning related codes and current developments in the field of planning will set a candidate apart.
The hiring range starts at $55,485 and is dependent on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position with full County benefits. The position is open until filled.
