Remote SDS/OBS Coder
StartDate: 11/4/2024 Pay Rate: $25.00 - $38.00
POSITION: Remote Facility Ambulatory/Observation Coder
DEPARTMENT: Health Information Management
START: ASAP.
END: 2/3/2025
LOCATION: Remote
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under indirect supervision, is responsible for accurate coding of Ambulatory Surgery and Observation procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. This SDS/OBS coder needs to be strong and current with coding guidelines is comfortable coding all types of surgeries including observations, etc. All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Extensive knowledge of 3M basic encoder, McKesson OneContent and Paragon (Allscripts product) electronic health record is required. Must have a minimum 5yrs recent acute care SDS/OBS coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
SHIFT/HOURS: M-F 8am-5pm Central business hours
EXPECTED HOURS: 40
LICENSE/CREDENTIALS REQ: CCS preferred but will look at RHIT, RHIA

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years facility SDS/OBS coding experience.
- Experience with coding all types of Ambulatory Surgeries both complex and simple
- Fulltime hours 40hrs a week
- Highly preferred to have McKesson OneContent and Paragon experience.
- Must have 3M experience.
- Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3-5) years RECENT FACILITY OUTPATIENT SDS/OBS hospital coding/billing and collection experience.
- Proficient with OP Facility Coding Guidelines.
- Extensive knowledge ICD10PCS/CM coding principles.
