The Production Engineer acts as a technical resource for Operations personnel, applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems and enable production of low cost, quality products. This position assists work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business.
\n- Provides technical support for day to day operations activities. Troubleshoots process/plant problems as necessary. Leads or participates in advanced trouble shooting and root cause incident investigations.
- Develops and monitors key performance metrics for feedstock utilization, energy efficiency, asset utilization and conversion costs.
- Implements best practices in order to optimize operations. Ensures “Most Effective Technology” and specific Operating Discipline requirements are in place.
- Works with Technical Advisors and plant personnel to meet Business and Plant goals.
- Provides technical content for operating procedures consistent with all applicable safety, environmental compliance and operational requirements.
- Understands and applies skills and knowledge in statistical process control technology to maximize plant asset utilization and produce low cost, quality products.
- Reviews, plans, and completes plant projects including scope development, design review, drawing approval, equipment installation, operator training, and startup.
- Assists in the planning and execution of major plant turnarounds. Leads special assignment teams.
- Assists pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities to insure a successful startup.
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of the Sales and Operating Plan. Reviews overall plant operations to insure plant is meeting plan.
- Leads or participates in Process Hazard Analysis and plant improvement teams.
- Networks with other engineers on site and within the global business to leverage knowledge on plant operations.
- Inspects process equipment as needed which requires ability to climb ladders, staircases, make confined space entries, and wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
- Bachelor of science in chemical engineering
- Self-starter, good organization & time management skills
- Demonstrates good leadership skills
- Possesses exemplary problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrates ability to interact well with others
- Schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of operating plants
