Job Function
The Health & Safety Manager for the Axis, Alabama location is responsible for developing, maintaining and improving the company’s programs and training for compliance with required health and safety regulationsincluding Federal OSHA, State and Local requirements and AMVAC’s corporate objectives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and manage all safety training required for plant employees
- Coordinate incident & accident investigations and maintain all required records
- Conduct weekly audits of the plant and issue weekly reports with action items to ensure all Health &Safety policies are followed; inform & communicate with the Leadership Team
- Coordinate contractor and temporary employee safety requirements and programs
- Update and maintain all Health & Safety Procedures and OSHA 300 log
- Perform annual audits of Safety Programs such as LOTO (last out/tag out) and Respiratory Protection
- Manage and oversee paramedic program and its employees
- Responsible for all safety equipment including fire extinguishers, signage, C02 and fire suppression systems
- Perform regular safety inspections and effectively communicate recommended safe practices with all plant personnel to ensure compliance
- Audit all hot work permits, safe work permits and confined space permits
- Responsible for reviewing and participating in all overhead crane lifts
- Review and approve safety aspects of all management of change (MOCs) & conduct Job safety audits of new and existing processes and procedures
- Represent Axis in any regulatory visits and inspections (OSHA, EPA, DHS, DOT, etc.)
- Performs other assignments as necessary and directed by management
Skills & Qualifications
- 5 years of Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing plant (chemical manufacturing preferred)including 2 years of supervisory and management experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and Federal, State and Local Health & Safety regulations
- Understanding of Industrial Hygiene requirements
- Experience coaching managers, supervisors and field personnel to successfully follow company policiesand procedures regarding the health and safety of employees
- Experience managing manpower and assets while juggling multiple priorities
- Strong communication & presentation skills - both verbal and written
- Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required
- Must be a role model and be recognized as a leader with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
- Flexibility to operate in a rapidly changing environment
- Must be willing to work during off-hours to meet business needs when necessary
- Some travel may be required
- Must be able to pass Department of Homeland Security approved criminal background check & pre-employment physical
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred – Occupational Health & Safety degree desired
- Additional coursework / certifications – CSP; OSHA; Hazmat; ISO

Salary : $82,500 - $105,000
