What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time managing level engineer in our Madison, Wisconsin office to support our local and regional teams with a mix of environmental and civil engineering design. The applicant will have at least 10 years of experience working on environmental projects, including remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial designs, and implementation of remedial actions. Experience with one or more of the following aspects of waterfront projects is preferred: dredging, capping, stream restoration, confined disposal facilities, beneficial use of dredged material, coastal design or other aspects of work within streams, rivers, lakes, or coastal regions. Knowledge of local regulatory requirements is desired, including RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, and other permitting requirements for environmental and remediation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of small to large projects from site investigation through design and design implementation, including client interaction and agency communications
- Oversight and/or preparation of design plans and specifications for a range of multi-disciplinary projects including upland and sediment remediation projects
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental data
- Development, coordination, and review of technical project work
- Management of construction oversight support during remedial action implementation
- Assisting with proposals and business development efforts
- Tracking project budgets and project progress
- Mentoring staff
- Field assignments (position may require short-term travel and/or field work [approximately 10%] depending on project needs)
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- BS or MS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 10 years of relevant work experience
- E. licensure in the State of Wisconsin, or the ability to gain reciprocity upon hire
- Experience with in-water and upland environmental projects, including the planning and implementation of field sampling, site investigations, data analysis, feasibility studies, and remedial design. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in contaminated sediments, including capping and dredging remediation projects and/or navigation dredging projects with beneficial reuse of dredged material.
- Experience with coastal engineering and flood resiliency evaluations preferred
- Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, and management of design implementation
- Experience with mentoring and training junior staff on engineering principles
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to obtain this certification
