Title Underwriter

Job Summary

Anchor Title, a fast-paced, growing title company, is currently looking for a top-notch candidate eager to fill a full-time role as a Title Researcher / Title Examinerin Birmingham, AL. This is an hourly wage position with competitive benefit offerings. The ideal candidate will have expert-level experience performing title examination and analysis.

Job Responsibilities

• Researches and analyzes public records in order to produce accurate, detailed reports summarizing property ownership
• Examines deeds, liens, judgements, leases, plat books, maps, contracts and agreements to determine property ownership, legal validity with and compliance with state and local mandates
• Interprets complex legal documents and verifies detailed ownership reports and abstracts
• Utilizes online resources, public databases, courthouse computer systems and courthouse records to provide accurate and timely reports
• Identify and resolve issues with documentation such as missing information, incomplete information, inaccurate or contradictory information, etc.
• Adds commitment requirements as needed to ensure all transactions are closed in a timely and insurable manner
• Performs other functions and duties as required as agreed upon with management

Skills and Qualifications

• Practices highly effective organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Ability to work independently, sometimes remotely
• Possesses working knowledge of real property laws, examining and underwriting policies and procedures, title insurance policies, endorsements, services and pricing
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and influence outcomes through effective written and verbal communication skills
• 2 years of title or related real estate experience required
• Licensed as an Alabama State Title Examiner or willing to take state insurance title examiner test and pass

Founded in 2004, we specialize in issuing commitments, listing binders, policies, title reports and escrow loan closings for residential and commercial purchases and refinances. We also provide services for debt consolidation, construction loans and 1031 tax exchanges.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
