Position Summary:
The Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations of utility construction crews. This includes managing underground and/or aerial installation of utility cable, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and compliance with project specifications and timelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for overseeing Laborers and Equipment Operators.
Key Responsibilities:
* Crew Management and Supervision
- Lead, direct, and supervise crews performing underground and/or aerial fiber optic installation, splicing, and termination.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and delegate responsibilities.
- Train and mentor field staff on safety practices, construction methods, and company procedures.
- Conduct daily job briefings and toolbox talks.
* Project Execution
- Interpret construction prints, project plans, and work orders to ensure accurate execution.
- Plan and organize work to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment (excavators, plows, trenchers, boring machines, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to specifications including depth, slack loops, conduit sizing, and pole attachment standards.
* Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA, DOT and company safety guidelines.
- Identify and mitigate potential job site hazards.
- Use proper PPE and ensure crew adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed and accurate safety documentation.
* Quality Control and Reporting
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
- Document project progress through photos, reports, and daily logs.
- Report project status to supervisors and escalate issues as needed.
- Interface with inspectors, subcontractors, and utility representatives.
* Customer & Stakeholder Communication
- Represent the company in a professional manner when interacting with clients, inspectors, and property owners.
- Coordinate with municipalities and utility companies for permits and inspections.
- Address complaints, questions, or concerns from the public or other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
* Education & Certification:
- Valid Class A Driver’s License with clean driving record.
* Experience:
- 3 years of experience in utility construction.
- 1 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
* Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of fiber optic construction methods and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, and as-builts.
- Knowledge of and commitment to safety best practices.
- Experience with project tracking software or mobile field apps.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

- Basic computer skills (email, reporting, spreadsheets).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
