What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper Elementary Teacher position at Andover School of Montessori?
Andover School of Montessori is looking for an Upper Elementary teacher to join our well-established multi-age program for grades 4th to 6th. Our academic class sizes range from 6 to 10 students, allowing teachers to develop meaningful relationships with their students. The pace of our classrooms promotes reflection on students' work, fostering a deep understanding of concepts and a positive and peaceful working environment. Applicants should have prior teaching experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, and technological proficiency in a G-suite environment. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to collaborate within a team-teaching model are also desirable traits.
Ideally, candidates will possess a Montessori certification and/or bachelor's degree in education, with a background in Math and Language Arts. However, if the candidate is not Montessori certified, we may be able to facilitate their certification through an exciting opportunity for professional development through an American Montessori Society accredited certification program.
The position begins in April of the 2023-24 school year and offers potential for continued employment in the following academic year. The Upper Elementary teacher will have the responsibility of designing and delivering the Spanish curriculum to students in grades 4-8. It is encouraged for the teacher to bring creativity and passion to their teaching and to raise students' awareness of the diverse Spanish-speaking cultures around the world. Additionally, the teacher will design and implement lessons in Math, Language, and Writing for students in grades 4-6. The teacher's role encompasses not only fostering academic, personal, and social achievement but also ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the students under their supervision.
