The Role
Under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor – Assembly , the Assembly I role is responsible for Inspecting, disassembling, and assembling new and used equipment for the steel industry.
Requirements
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items
- Disassemble Andritz and customer supplied equipment, such as levelers, slitters, choppers, shears, mandrels, scrap cutters, bearing chocks, manual mill housings, stretch mill housings, piercer mill, and mandrel mill rolls.
- Inspect and write inspection reports including recommendations for repair.
- Make repairs.
- Final assembly, testing and create final completion reports.
Knowledge
- Technical knowledge and the ability to read blueprints
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, presses, pullers, torches, welders, micrometers, and calipers.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane and fork truck.
- Capable of Stick and Mig Welding.
- Ability to plumb hydraulic equipment.

Job Specific Competencies
- Capable of performing mechanical machine maintenance for shop equipment.
- Good understanding of quality control principals.
Education and Experience
- 2 years’ experience as an assembler.
- Ability to build all equipment with some supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- As required to individually complete key result items
