Who we’re looking for:
Position: Pet Counselors at AMH are an essential part of our company. Our Pet Counselors take care of the many dogs and cats we welcome as our guests. This includes walking, feeding, and playing with them every day at their owners’ requests. They keep a close watch on all pets and notify a doctor if a pet seems to be having a problem. Pet Counselors also insure that our boarding suites and areas are clean and orderly.
As an Pet Counselor you will:
- Provide exercise and time for eliminations by walking all dogs several times daily.
- Observe and monitor play groups to ensure the safety of all pets.
- Observe and monitor animal appearance and activity for general physical condition.
- Communicate with Doctors and Technicians about any abnormalities.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect all suites and cages as often as necessary.
- Provide pets’ meals, fresh water, and appropriate bedding.
- Greet every client and address both client and pet by name.
- Bathe pets as needed and assist with cleanliness of bathhouse.

Position Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience: 1 year working in kennel environment preferred but not required
- Ability to gain animal confidence when restraining them for transport, boarding, or treatment.
- Ability to read pet body language and use in controlling/handling individual animal temperament.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Apply knowledge and skills in controlling and handling individual animal temperament.

Pay: $14.50 - $15.00 per hour
