Position Summary
The Safety Specialist maintains the stability and reputation of the organization encouraging compliance with legal and environmental health and safety requirements. Serves as a resource relating to safety management, ensuring employee education and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, provides technical expertise on work-related injury avoidance, and supports all OSHA requirements/reporting. Safe practices champion. Good housekeeping and safe working conditions. Support operations’ daily H&S needs and eliminate safety and industrial hygiene-related obstacles to ensure execution of high quality customer parts.

OSHA Programs (development participation and maintenance) – written program, training programs, all supporting content:

Training
- Develop and conduct training, maintain materials
- Review, identify, and communicate training needs
- Manage records, work with Training Dept. to coordinate training and maintain accurate records
- Lead for new hire EHS training coordination & delivery
Facilities
- Manages inspections of critical equipment
- MONTHLY: fire extinguishers, sprinklers/ suppression systems, AED
- WEEKLY: eyewash / E-shower, first aid
- Coordinates required third-party servicing of critical equipment

- Stocks first aid kits weekly and as needed

- Weekly audits of lighting
- Monthly hoist inspections
- ISO “Facility Inspector”
Administrative
- Tracking respiratory protection medical clearance and fit test
- PIT certification tracking and upkeep: Forklift / scissor lift / e-pallet jack
- Complete incident reports & identify corrective actions
- Completing air monitoring reports, including requisite employee notification letters
- Well Now Urgent Care contact and visit coordination (pre-hire, respirator Eval.)
- Vision Works program admin. (prescription safety glasses program)
- Emergency evacuation roster maintenance
- Boot reimbursement program contact & management of accounts
- Coordination of boot truck visit
Miscellaneous
- Conduct audits and develop/maintain written procedures (LOTO)
- Complete incident reports & identify corrective actions, communicate regularly to EHS staff during weekly meetings and monthly to management team
- Review and analyze accident/injury reports and data for accuracy and detail, ensuring corrective actions are taken
- Regulatory & certification inspection support to EHS Leader (OSHA, DOL)
- Job Hazard Analysis – all positions, reviewed and updated annually
- EHS Committee co-leadership
- Manage onboarding of new employees and position transfers
- Co-conduct reviews of process changes
- Coordinate scheduled and requested air / industrial hygiene monitoring events
- Safety Management System owner; maintains all documents
- Co-manage EHS Technician’s workload
- Driver Safety
- Audit inspection practices
- Conduct scheduled and requested air / industrial hygiene monitoring events
- Maintains employee communication boards
Education and Experience
- 4 years college education in technical field (preferably EHS or related field of study
- At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- OSHA 30 Hour preferred
