North County Hospital- Cook

Weekend work required. Hours varies
Pay rate: $15-$18 per hour

Job Summary: The primary purpose of this job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Head Cook, Team Leader and/or Director of Dining Service to assure that quality food service is provided at all times. Under the supervision of the Team Leader is responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniment and garnishes.

Essential Job Duties

• Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling technique.
• General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices
• Responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniments and garnishes
• Prepares hot entrees, soups and vegetables following preparation sheets and provided recipes for dining room service, healthcare center, cafeteria and special functions.
• Completes food temperature checks each meal. Tastes all food items prepared
• Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices.

Physical Requirements: Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age. Capable of lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds or more. Capable of standing and maneuvering independently and safely around work area. Capable of standing on a tile floor for an eight-hour shift. Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment, including slicer, chopper, processor, knives, etc

Requirements:
-7 year background check
-At least 6 months experience in the food service industry
-2 Professional Reference letters from Supervisor within the past 2 years
-Drug Screen
-TB test
-Provide Proof of all vaccinations

Varicella

Required uniform:

Black pants, black or white polo or button down shirt, and slip resistant shoes are REQUIRED
