What are the responsibilities and job description for the HISTOTECHNICIAN position at Apex Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center LLC?
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Perform various tasks required for receiving, processing and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist.
Under the supervision of the Pathology Supervisor, performs all technical histology laboratory’s functions which included but are not limited to accessioning, grossing (skin only), tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining, and special stains.
Performs other duties and assumes various responsibilities as determined by team lead/supervisor.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work as a team member.
Well-organized with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Basic computer skills.
Knowledge of general laboratory operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a NAACLS accredited histology program OR Associates Degree plus one full-time year experience in histopathology within the last three years under the supervision of a Pathologist.
Current valid ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) required.
