Position Overview:
The Seasonal Services Manager will oversee and manage the operations of a snow removal crew during the winter months and a landscaping crew during the summer months. This role requires an individual with strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and experience in both snow removal and landscaping services. The manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe completion of all seasonal tasks, maintaining high-quality standards, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

Winter (Snow Removal):

  • Operate company plow truck as part of snow removal operations.
  • Supervise and manage a team of snow removal personnel, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Develop and implement snow removal plans for residential, commercial, and municipal properties.
  • Monitor weather conditions and ensure timely response to snow and ice events.
  • Coordinate the use of snow removal equipment and materials, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory levels.
  • Communicate with clients to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Summer (Landscaping):

  • Hands-on crew leader overseeing landscaping crew responsible for lawn care, planting, irrigation, and other landscaping services.
  • Plan and execute landscaping projects, including design, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of landscaping equipment and vehicles.
  • Train and develop crew members on proper horticultural techniques and safety practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to client specifications.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing any issues promptly and professionally.

Year-Round Responsibilities:

  • Manage seasonal transition planning, including equipment storage and maintenance.
  • Recruit and retain seasonal employees, ensuring smooth transitions between winter and summer crews.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
  • Develop and manage budgets for snow removal and landscaping operations.
  • Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on crew performance, project status, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing snow removal and landscaping operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of snow removal and landscaping equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and handle physical demands of the job.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours during winter months.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in landscaping, horticulture, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in snow removal and landscaping, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Availability for on-call work during winter months.
