Apex MOHS Medical Assistants are responsible for assisting with surgical procedures involving the removal of skin cancers and other skin tumors in a surgical setting as well as administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are certified in Medical Assisting This is a full-time hourly position located at one of our eleven locations throughout Northeast Ohio but does require travel.QualificationsCertification in Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical NurseSurgical or MOHS experience preferredExperience using an Electronic Medical Records system (EMR)Knowledge of medical terminology and experience taking vital signsCurrent up to date CPR certificationMust be willing to work with a team and be able to function in a fast-paced work environmentMust be able to travel to various Apex Skin locations on a regular basisRequired Tuberculosis testing and Flu vaccination documentation.Essential FunctionsPerforms initial patient assessment, evaluation, and health survey dataProvide pre-and post-optative teaching for both patient and family membersPrepping room, instruments, and patient for surgery or biopsiesAssist during surgeries by administering anesthesia, handoff instruments & cut suturesPerforms administrative tasks such as maintaining patient consent and maintaining records and documentationTranscribes the entire visit and assures documentation of patient care is compliant.Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments and follow-up appointments, maintaining and following up with patient biopsy results, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.Monitor and complete lab documents, biopsy and culture book, telephone encounters, and team task box within the EMR.Maintains nursing practice consistent with OSHA, HIPPA, QA safety regulations.Assists with autoclave procedures and quality controls.Physical RequirementsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job responsibilities.Frequently standing, sitting, and walking.Frequently required to use hands to handle, feel, and type.Required to lift moderate weights (20-50 pounds)Required vision abilities include distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus.Frequent speaking and hearing.What we offerPaid TrainingMonday through Friday Schedule (half Saturday once a month at some locations)Paid time offPaid Holidays and major holidays offMedical, Dental, Vision, Life, Short term disability, and a 401KDiscounts on Apex dermatology services and productsTravel, sporting events, concerts, movies, other leisure discounts, and more!Apex Dermatology & Skin Surgery Center provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
